DURHAM, N.C. – Davidson's Molly Sullivan set a new school record in the 3000M Steeplechase and Frances Whitworth won the 5000M with a new personal best of her own, to highlight competition for the Wildcats on day two of the Duke Invitational inside Morris Williams Stadium.
The third and final day of the annual event will begin Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
A native of North Kingstown, R.I., Sullivan finished with a time of 10:51.52, shattering the previous standard by almost 17 seconds. The sophomore just missed the record, which was set by Natalie Abernathy a year ago, by one second last weekend at High Point.
Whitworth, an all-conference performer in cross country this past fall, ran a 16:23.16, which was just three seconds off the program record.
The Wildcats' Sola Omonije and Grace Zagoria also set new personal records in their respective field events. Omonije recorded a height of 1.70m (5'7") in the high jump to finish second, while Zagoria was successful at 3.55m (11' 7 ¾") in the pole vault.
Kierra Marshall continued her solid senior campaign running a season-best 24.53 in the 200 meters.
