DAVIDSON, N.C. – With the final three weeks of the regular season left to play out, the Davidson lacrosse program will host the Saint Joseph's Hawks in a 12 p.m. match up this Saturday, April 13.
The game will air on ESPN+ with live stats available at davidsonwildcats.com/coverage.
IN SUMMARY… Both the Wildcats and Hawks sit a 4-2 in league play this season, setting up Saturday's contest to potentially hold playoff seeding implications. Over the last two seasons, the match up between Davidson and Saint Joe's has determined the No. 4 and No. 3 seeds in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship.
LAST TIME OUT… The Davidson Wildcats scored 12 unanswered goals over a 28-minute period to beat George Mason 16-6 last Saturday afternoon. Throughout the surge, Davidson had six different goal scorers, including a hat trick from freshman Brooke Ross for the second-straight game. During the run, the 'Cats also shut out the Patriots 5-0 in the third quarter, while Paige Doyle made two second-half saves.
SERIES HISTORY… Winners of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship, Saint Joseph's holds a 7-1 advantage over Davidson in the all-time series. The Wildcats won the first ever meeting in April 2015, 13-10, while the Hawks have won six-straight. The last two meetings have been determined by a total of four goals, with SJU defeating Davidson 16-15 in double overtime a season ago.
OT THRILLER… During the 2023 season, Davidson erased a five-goal deficit with less than 90 seconds to go in regulation, forcing two overtime periods, before eventually dropping the one-goal game to Saint Joe's. In the second half, Davidson out scored Saint Joe's 9-5 and put together a dominant 5-2 third quarter to begin its comeback. Over that stretch, Julianne Carey scored three of her four goals of the day while Allie Hartnett, Sophia Passalaqua and Adrienne Leone each added a goal to aid the resurgence.
ABOUT THE HAWKS… The Hawks enter Saturday with an 8-5 record overall, picking up notable, nationally-ranked wins over No. 17 Navy (14-13) and No. 25 UConn (11-10) during the non-conference season. Goalkeeper Jorden Concordia picked up the league's Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday, recording eight games with 10 or more saves and a league-best .522 saves percentage.
SKIBBE'S STATURE… Freshman attacker Jenna Skibbe has won four A-10 Rookie of the Week nods this year, coming off a four-goal game against George Mason and her eighth multi-goal game of the season. With 2.83 goals per game, she ranks sixth in the Atlantic 10 and third among all freshmen in the nation in scoring.
