
Wildcats Fall 4-2 in A-10 Action Against Richmond

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Richmond won two straight doubles matches to take the doubles point before holding the Davidson men's tennis team to two singles wins on the way to a 4-2 loss for the 'Cats Saturday at home.Â
"It was a tough loss today," said head coach Drew Barrett. "Doubles ended up being the difference maker. We are competing hard, but we need to play the key points with more confidence. We have another tough conference match on Monday and I'm looking forward to us responding well."Â
The Atlantic 10 loss moves the Wildcats' overall record to 4-5 and their league mark to 1-1.Â
Udday Singh and Nico Pinzon were up 5-4 in the No. 2 spot of doubles action but were unable to finish as the Spiders picked up 6-1 and 6-4 wins on courts one and three respectfully.Â
Richmond earned two additional team points with wins in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots however, Juan Camilo Perez Gongora earned his seventh singles victory of the season, and the first team point of the day for Davidson, by way of 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 triumph on court two. Pinzon followed suit by forcing a three-set win in the No. 6 spot (3-6, 6-4, 6-4).Â
On court one, Singh dropped the first set 6-2 before battling back to a 7-5 second set in order to push three. The Spiders top man would go one to take the third set in order to secure the fourth team point.Â
Davidson will continue A-10 action 11 a.m. Monday when Duquesne arrives at the Davidson Tennis Courts.Â
