DAVIDSON – Josh Routte has joined the Davidson women's soccer staff as a goalkeepers coach, head coach Riley Piechnick announced Wednesday.
"I am so excited for Josh to be joining our Davidson women's soccer family," said Piechnick. "His brings with him a wealth of coaching experience, and he has a proven track record of developing goalkeepers into all-conference players. He has demonstrated a strong work ethic and passion for the game, and his core values align with our mission to continue building a competitive program that prioritizes the scholar-athlete experience."
Routte most recently served as the assistant and goalkeepers coach for both the men's and women's programs at Horizon League Conference member Purdue University Fort Wayne.
"I am excited to be one of the assistant coaches of Davidson College women's soccer," said Routte. "After one conversation with the coaching staff and a quick walk around campus, I knew I had found my place. I want to thank Riley Piechnick, Sophie McKnight and the whole athletic department for this opportunity. I'm ready to get to work and make a meaningful contribution to the growth and success of this program and its scholar-athletes."
During his stint with Purdue Fort Wayne, Routte also served as the Staff Coach and Director of Goalkeeping for Fort Wayne Sport Club as well as the ODP Staff and Goalkeeper Coach at the Indiana Soccer Association.
Routte also spent about two years with Manchester University as an assistant women's soccer coach as well as three months as an interim head coach of the program.
As a player at Muskingum University, Routte was a captain and starter while earning his bachelor's degree in Sports Administration while minoring in Business Management and Coaching. Routte also has his United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Goalkeeper Diploma, USSF D License, United Soccer Coaches Pre-National Diploma and United Soccer Coaches Player Development Diploma.
