WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference named Davidson junior Josie Lambert its Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, while fellow Wildcat freshman Jenna Skibbe also took home Rookie of the Week honors.
It's the second week in a row where the Wildcats earned Rookie distinction, as Brooke Ross won the league's award after the first week of the season.
A midfielder from Evanston, Ill., Lambert dominated the stat sheet during wins over Winthrop and Stetson last week, scoring nine goals and adding three assists to her weekly totals. She scored career highs in all three categories on Sunday, scoring five goals, three assists and eight points during an 18-6 victory over the Hatters. The junior also caused a pair of turnovers, while taking just 11 shots on goal across the two-game stretch.
Skibbe paved the way for the Wildcats during a 20-2 win over Winthrop last Wednesday, scoring a game-high and career-best six goals. The rookie totaled 10 goals on the week, adding another four to the board against Stetson, while also recording one ground ball and one caused turnover.
Lambert, Skibbe and the rest of the 'Cats will return to action for two home games this week, beginning with a midweek matchup against Coastal Carolina from inside Richardson Stadium on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
