DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson volleyball team dropped its second Atlantic 10 contest on Saturday evening, falling 3-0 to the Loyola Chicago Ramblers.
The 'Blers, who captured the 2022 A-10 title, stopped 15 total blocks in game two of the series, and held the Wildcats to just a .070 attacking percentage.
After winning the first set 25-19, Loyola jumped out to another fast start in set two, taking an early 12-5 lead. While Davidson scored four-straight to force a Rambler timeout at 12-9, the Wildcats pulled even closer, eventually tying the set at 22-all after a kill from Elena Garcia-Guerrios. Despite the late comeback however, Loyola utilized four of its eight total blocks in the second set alone to pull off the 25-22 victory.
Davidson fell behind 13-7 in the final set, but came back within one, 14-13, after back-to-back kills from Kayla Davis and Isabel Decker. After a pair of Wildcat miscues, Loyola stretched its lead back up to three and never looked back, completing the three-set sweep with a 25-19 win.
Middle blockers Davis and Sola Omonije remained efficient for the Wildcats, combining for 13 kills, as Davis struck eight times with a pair of solo blocks.
