Field Hockey Pushes La Salle in 4-3 Loss

DAVIDSON — Sib Naaktgeboren scored two goals, assisted on another and helped the Davidson field hockey team challenge Atlantic 10 foe La Salle in a 4-3 setback Friday night.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in A-10 play, while the Explorers improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Naaktgeboren's second goal, her third of the season, came on a breakaway with 11:31 to play and got the Wildcats within a goal. But La Salle fended off multiple Davidson scoring chances in the final minutes to hold on.
With Davidson trailing 1-0, Naaktgeboren evened the score with a goal off a rebound with 4:11 left in the first quarter. Then she assisted on Abby Pompeo's team-leading seventh goal with 26 seconds left in the first half to cut the Explorers' lead to 3-2 at the break.
Clara Larripa scored two goals to lead La Salle.
Cato Roell made five saves for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will host non-conference foe Wake Forest Sunday at 1 p.m.
