NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For the first time in her career, senior defender Margaret Anne Warner has been named the Atlantic 10's Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Warner, a defensive mainstay for the Wildcats over the last four years, scooped up three ground balls and a pair of draw controls while causing two turnovers on Saturday as Davidson powered past La Salle, 16-3. La Salle's three goals scored was a season-best for Davidson's defense, which ranks third in the A-10 with 10.56 goals allowed per game.
The Raleigh, N.C. native leads the Wildcats with 30 caused turnovers during her senior season, while also being second on the team in draw controls (29). Additionally, her 1.88 caused turnovers per game ranks third in the Atlantic 10.
Warner and the Wildcats will return to action on Thursday, May 4 at 12 p.m. to kick off the Atlantic 10 Championship in Richmond, Va.
