
Wildcats Visit Rhode Island for A-10 Series

Two of the top three baseball teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference will meet this weekend when Davidson visits Rhode Island for a three-game series.
The Wildcats, 21-14 overall, enter their fourth league series in second with a 7-2 A-10 record, while Rhode Island (16-17) is third at 6-3 in A-10 play. Saint Louis (8-1) is atop the A-10 standings, while VCU, Richmond and Dayton enter the weekend tied for fourth (5-4).
The series begins Friday at 3 p.m.
LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• The Wildcats are coming off a 22-7 loss to N.C. State Tuesday in Charlotte.
• Last weekend, the Wildcats won two of three games against A-10 foe Dayton.
• Also in A-10 play this year, the Wildcats swept UMass and won two of three against Fordham.
• The Davidson offense is leading the A-10 in home runs (60), walks (192), on-base percentage (.410) and slugging percentage (.499).
• The offensive catalyst has been junior outfielder Ryan Wilson. • On the mound, right-hander Will Schomberg is tied for the league lead with five wins and ranks second with a .210 batting average against. He's third with a 1.12 WHIP and 7.04 hits per nine innings, is tied for fifth with 52 strikeouts and is sixth in ERA (3.66).
• Righty Bennett Flynn ranks fourth with 53 strikeouts and three saves.
