Men's Track and Field Begins Outdoor Campaign at UNCC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Davidson men's track and field team opened the outdoor season at UNC Charlotte's 49er Classic on Friday and Saturday.
The 'Cats battled the elements with wet conditions on Friday before closing out the weekend strong on Saturday. Henry Griffith was the lone Wildcat to notch a new personal best when he finished 7th in the 5,000 meter invite with a time of 14:58.23.
Grahm Breiter grabbed Davidson's top finish individually with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Breiter, a sophomore, ran the event for the first time and finished with a time of 9:29.90. Nathan Stewart also finished inside the top-10 in the steeplechase by posting a time of 10:02.35, which was good for eighth place.
In field events, Nick Masterman finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 51.65 meters, and Nick Tompkins took sixth in Group A of the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.85 meters. In throws, Jack Stajos finished seventh in the discus after a long of 46.18 meters.
The men's squad will be back in action with a group traveling to NC State's Raleigh Relay's and another group heading to the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by South Carolina next weekend.
