NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sophomore Jayden Smith earned his first Atlantic 10 Men's Track Performer of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday.
Smith, a sophomore from Richmond, Va., had a record-breaking weekend at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Smith snapped his own record and took second place in the 60-meter hurdles by posting a time of 7.76. This mark sits atop the A-10 and ranks him 32nd nationally.
Later in Saturday's meet, Smith broke another program record but in the 200 meter dash. The St. Christopher's School product finished in 21.83 to etch his name in the Davidson record book yet again.
Smith wrapped up the weekend by being named Virginia's USA Track & Field 20U Athlete of the Year at the 3rd Annual USATF Virginia Awards Celebration on Sunday.
Tuesday is the third time Smith has been recognized by the Atlantic 10. He won Rookie of the Week honors twice last season.
