Abernathy and Horowitz Earn Top Ten Finishes at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. ­ – Davidson's women's track and field team began their weekend at Liberty University's Darius Dixon Memorial Invite on Friday which was highlighted by top-ten finishes from Natalie Abernathy and Rachel Horowitz.
 
Abernathy snagged the top finish for the 'Cats on Friday in the 5,000 meters. The Tampa, Fla. native ran a 17:43.16 marking her fastest time in the event this season and her best since the 2020 A-10 Indoor Championships.
 
Horowitz, a senior from Austin, Texas, ran a 56.75 in the 400 meters to secure an eighth place finish out of 50 other entries. It was her second top-ten finish in the event this indoor season and third overall. She also moved up to the fourth-fastest time in the A-10. 
 
Kelsey Troutman nearly surpassed her personal-best time in the 800 maters when she crossed the finish line in 2:14.57. This was good for 14th out of nearly 70 runners in the event. Breila Fuller and Liz Simms also finished inside the top-30 in the 800 meters after posting times of 2:16.50 and 2:17.94 respectively.
 
The women's track and field team will end the weekend at Liberty tomorrow with the five running events, two relays, and three field events.
