Wrestling Assistant Coleman to Compete for Spot at Olympic Trials

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson wrestling assistant coach Marcus Coleman will compete at the 2023 Senior Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas this weekend. He will compete at 86 kilograms in the freestyle category for a chance to make the United States Olympic Team.
At this national event, wrestlers not only compete for the prestigious title of Senior National Champion, but the top five finishers in each weight class will qualify for the 2024 U.S Olympic Team Trials which will be held in State College, Pa. this coming April.
Last month, Coleman wrestled in the Bill Farrell Memorial in New York City which is an international senior-level Olympic-qualifying tournament. At that event, Coleman went 2-2 at 86 kilograms and lost to the top seed in the quarterfinals.
Prior to his coaching tenure with the Wildcats, Coleman wrestled at nationally ranked Iowa State where he was a two-time All-American, five-time NCAA qualifier, and ended his collegiate career with 99 individual wins.
