Wildcats Fall to Dayton in A-10 Semifinals

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men's soccer team fell to the Dayton Flyers in the Atlantic 10 semifinals 3-1 at Alumni Stadium on Wednesday night.
Dayton didn't wait long to get on the board as they scored in the 11th minute on just their second shot of the night to go ahead 1-0.
The Flyers continued to put the pressure on the Davidson defense in the first half to the tune of 11 first half shots, but the Wildcats were able to keep it a 1-0 game going into halftime.
Dayton kept their foot on the gas and scored their second goal just three and a half minutes into the second half to make it a two-score game.
Denis Krioutchenkov put the 'Cats on the board in the 58th minute when he snuck a free kick past a wall of defenders and the goalie for his ninth score of the season.
When the momentum looked to be on the Wildcats side, Dayton quickly turned the tables. Just five minutes after Krioutchenkov's goal, the Flyers netted their third goal of the game to put it out of reach.
Davidson had six shot attempts in the final 20 minutes but were unable to cash in even with the Flyers down a man after the 67th minute.
The Wildcats finish the season with a 10-5-1 record, their most wins in a season since 2014.
