Senior Day Sweep! Wildcats Down Saint Louis in Three

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson volleyball stretched its win streak to three on Saturday evening, defeating the Saint Louis Billikens 3-0 from inside Belk Arena during the team's Senior Day match.
The Wildcats had their best blocking performance of the season against SLU, combining for 13 total blocks along with a season-high seven solo stuffs.
Kayla Davis led the effort with four solos and five assists, in addition to six kills on 10 swings. Anna Withee paced the offense with a career-high 13 kills, including seven during the second set alone, while Xuan Nguyen notched 20 assists and 12 digs and Bella Brady added another 22 pickups.
Davis proved to be the difference in a deadlocked, 62-point first set, as the sophomore came up with three solo blocks to help the Wildcats secure the thrilling, 32-30 victory.
With eight set points, and five alone for the Billikens, Saint Louis led by as many as four, at 19-15, before forcing Davidson into a timeout. From there, the 'Cats ignited a 7-0 run to pull away 22-19 until SLU came up with a 5-1 run of its own to reach its first set point of the day.
Withee's seven kills in set two allowed the Wildcats to control the momentum throughout much of the frame. After leading 16-8, Saint Louis crawled back within five, 22-17, but two more kills from Sola Omonije and Withee helped seal the deal at 25-18.
Davidson clinched the match in the third after swinging .308 and holding the Billikens to a .154 attacking percentage. In addition to the offensive surge, the 'Cats aced Saint Louis three times and collected five total blocks for another 25-18 victory.

The Wildcats will close out the regular season next weekend at Duquesne before returning home for the 2023 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship.
