PITTSBURGH, PA. - Bella Brady became the Davidson volleyball all-time digs leader while the team earned a five-set Atlantic 10 Conference victory against Duquesne Friday on the road.Â
In the second set of the night, Davidson's trusted libero Bella Brady picked up her sixth dig of the match which made her the program's all-time leader. The senior from Winter Park, Florida now totals 1,898 thus far this season after tacking on a season-high 31 against Duquesne. Brady broke a record that was set by Mara Mordini more than two decades ago from 1997-2000.Â
After winning the opening set over the Dukes in commanding form (25-16), the two teams traded set wins for the duration of the match with the 'Cat ultimately coming up with the fifth-set victory.Â
The Wildcats improve to 18-9 overall and 10-7 in the A-10 entering their final regular-season match while the Dukes become 11-14 overall and 6-11 in league matches.Â
Davidson limited Duquesne to a hitting percentage of just .173 thanks to a total of 20 blocks led by Sola Omonije's six rejections (one solo / five assisted). Kayla Davis aided with five blocks of her own (one solo / four assisted) as well as Emma Slusser (four assisted).Â
In addition to Brady's solid libero performance, Isabel Decker earned a double-double as she chipped in 17 digs and 13 kills while assisting on two blocks.Â
Four Wildcats ended the match in double-digit kills in Decker and Anna Withee with 13 apiece and Slusser and Omonije with 10 each. Xuan Nguyen rounded out the Davidson leaders as she dished out 31 assists.Â
After the 'Cats and Dukes split the opening four sets, the fifth set began in the same tune of the night in what was another back-and-forth outing with Davidson reaching the halfway mark first at 8-7.Â
Davidson carried the momentum into the side switch and proceeded to score the next seven straight points via Nguyen service on the way to a 15-7 fifth-set victory.Â
