MORAGA, Calif. – Davidson suffered an 89-55 setback at St. Mary's Friday afternoon inside the University Credit Union Pavilion.

Both teams are now 3-3 on the 2023-24 season.

Despite the loss, Grant Huffman (13) and Angelo Brizzi (12) scored in double figures for the Wildcats, who shot just 36.2 percent from the floor.

Ranked 23rd in both the AP and Coaches' Preseason Polls, St. Mary's grabbed control and the lead for good with a 16-0 run early in the contest.

This afternoon's meeting between the two schools was just the second all-time, as the only previous came in the 2009 Postseason NIT, also Stephen Curry's final collegiate contest.

Alex Ducas paced the Gaels with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including seven of his club's 15 3-pointers.

As a team, St. Mary's shot 52.3 percent overall, finished with a 45-19 advantage on the glass and had 26 second-chance points.
