Wildcats Fall at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. – Despite pushing Fordham to its limit in the first two sets, the Davidson volleyball team dropped a 3-0 contest to the Rams inside Rose Hill Gymnasium on Saturday evening.
The result moves the Wildcats to 14-9 overall and 6-7 in Atlantic 10 play while Fordham improves to 15-7 and 6-6 in the league.
Emma Slusser led the Wildcats with an impressive 13 kills on 22 swings (.318) while fellow sophomore Kayla Davis hit an impressive .375.
In total, Fordham produced 10 blocks and five service aces as opposed to Davidson's seven stops and four aces.
After dropping set one 25-23, the Wildcats took a 14-13 lead in the second after a kill from Isabel Decker. From there, the Rams rattled off a 7-2 run to pull ahead 20-16 before the 'Cats rallied to pull back in front at set point, 24-23. Despite being within reach, thanks to a Slusser kill and Bella Brady ace, Fordham scored three-straight to pull out the set two win.
In the third, the Rams hit .211 and held Davidson to a .026 attacking percentage to finish out the 25-18 match-clinching win.
Overall, the 'Cats swung at a .142 clip compared to Fordham's .261.
