'Cats Complete Weekend Sweep Over Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – Davidson volleyball took its second straight match from George Mason on Saturday afternoon, rallying to a 3-1 victory to complete the weekend sweep of the Patriots.
Emma Slusser (9 kills) and Anna Withee (8) hit a combined .341 and added four block assists in the Wildcats' sixth Atlantic 10 win of the season. Middle blockers Sola Omonije and Kayla Davis added eight kills, five block assists and one solo stuff, and Isabel Decker recorded a match-best 17 strikes.
After a tight first set that saw George Mason and Davidson tied at 15-all, the Wildcats rallied behind kills from Slusser, Decker and Davis to score five straight and ultimately pull ahead with a 25-21 victory.
The Wildcats maintained their momentum in set two, cruising to a 7-1 start with four kills on their first five swings of the frame. Despite creating a nine-point deficit, 22-13, the Patriots scored four in a row to force the 'Cats into a late timeout. Out of the break, Xuan Nguyen aced Mason and secured set point for the 2-0 match lead.
George Mason hit a match-best .306 in the third to force a fourth set, while the 'Cats turned around with their best effort of the match (.286) in the final frame to seal the deal with a 25-15 win.
Libero Bella Brady added another 20 digs to her totals, bringing her to 6.43 digs per set for the weekend.

Davidson will return to Belk Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 25 to take on VCU at 7 p.m.
