Field Hockey Falls in A-10 Opener

RICHMOND, Va. — A third quarter goal kept the Davidson Wildcats in it Sunday, but Richmond prevailed 4-1 in the teams' Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey opener.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 3-4 overall.
Hannah Merritt scored off a penalty corner in the final minute of the third, after the ball was inserted by Celie Constantine and received by Caroline Wack. Her first career goal cut Richmond's lead to 2-1.
But Spider Regan McCrossan scored two goals in a 10-minute span of the fourth to help Richmond put it away.

The Wildcats will play two on the road next weekend, beginning with an A-10 match at UMass on Friday afternoon.
