ROCK HILL, N.C. – After dropping its match with Delaware earlier in the day, Davidson concluded the Winthrop Tournament with a 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 25-17, 25-15) victory over the host Eagles Saturday evening.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 5-4 on the young season, while Winthrop falls to 3-6.

Jackie Bardin and Emma Slusser paced the 'Cats in the nightcap with 15 and 13 kills, respectively, while Bella Brady picked up 22 digs. A Minnesota native, Slusser was named to the All-Tournament Team for the second straight weekend as she hit .335 overall with two 13-kill performances and five total blocks.

Jessie Doyal (20 assists) and Xuan Nguyen (18) combined for 38 of Davidson's 48 kills, while the Wildcats recorded 15 total blocks, led by Anela Davis' nine.

Clinging to an 8-7 lead in the first set, Davidson broke it open with a 7-1 spurt to push the margin to seven before taking game one 25-21.

After Winthrop took the second 25-17 to even the match, the Wildcats closed the third frame with six unanswered points capped by four straight Eagles' errors.

The fourth and final set was all Davidson as it jumped out to a 6-2 advantage, stretching it to as many as 10 on a kill from Sola Omonije to secure the win.

In the earlier half of the day, the Wildcats led Delaware by seven points, 10-3, before the Blue Hens stormed back to win the first frame 25-22. The two teams would swap spots in the second, with Davidson looking at an 11-4 deficit until an Anela Davis block stunned Delaware. Despite climbing back to a 19-all stalemate, the Wildcats dropped the second 25-21 and eventually the third and final set, 25-16.
