Wildcats Wrap Up Regular Season in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. – Sophomore Alex Heffner recorded a Top-20 finish as Davidson wrapped up its 2021-22 regular season with a 10th place showing at the Stitch Intercollegiate hosted by NC State Saturday afternoon.
The two-day event was played on the Par 72, 7,287-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
In addition to the host Wolfpack, the 2022 field included Air Force, Campbell, College of Charleston, Davidson, Duke, ETSU, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Toledo and UNCG.
A native of Harrisburg, N.C., Heffner concluded the annual event T-19th with a 54-hole total of 221 (73-74-74). Viraj Garewal led the 'Cats today with an even-par 72 to come home tied for 29th at 223 (73-78-73).
Will Davis (226/T-40), Clayton Tribus (233/T-65) and Ethan Hall (233/T-65) were also in the Davidson starting lineup.
Cole Walter (226/T-40), who was competing as an individual for the Wildcats, was alone atop the leaderboard Friday morning following a career-low 68 in his opening round.
Duke (-3), one of five nationally-ranked teams in the field, was the only school to finish under par as the Blue Devils edged No. 13 Notre Dame by three.
Quinn Riley (Duke) posted three straight sub-par rounds to claim medalist by a shot over four golfers at three-under.

After a three-week break, Davidson will head to Orlando, Fla., where it will attempt to defend its conference title at the 2022 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship April 29 – May 1.
