
Monahan Clinches Opening Week's Defensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Junior goalkeeper Amanda Monahan earned her fourth career Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honor, and first of the 2022 season, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Hailing from Marblehead, Mass., Monahan had a strong outing in goal on Saturday as she stopped 11 shots while surrendering just eight goals in Davidson's opening day victory over High Point, concluding the match with a .579 save percentage. The junior put together a balanced effort as well, giving up four goals in each half as the Wildcats' offense surged late – scoring 10 goals across the final two quarters – en route to the 12-8 win.
Monahan and the Wildcats will return to action on Saturday at 11 a.m. to take on Coastal Carolina.
