'Cats Return Home for Sunday Matinee with Elon

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- For the first time since Nov. 12, the Davidson women's basketball team will return to its home court on Sunday, playing host to the Elon Phoenix at 1 p.m.

The Series
  • Sunday's meeting against Elon will be the 31st meeting between the two programs.
  • Davidson holds the all time series at a 19-11 advantage.
  • The Wildcats are looking for their first victory against the Phoenix in head coach Gayle Fulks' tenure.
  • Elon has won the last four meetings, with Davidson's last win in the series coming in January of 2014.
  • Heading into the Sunday matinee, Elon is 4-4 overall and coming off a 63-51 loss to Richmond.
  • Dating back to 2004, the 'Cats are 9-2 when facing the Phoenix inside Belk Arena.

LAST TIME OUT... Eighth-ranked N.C. State used a 16-0 first-half run to pull away from Davidson in an 81-47 Wildcats' loss Thursday night in Reynolds Coliseum. In the matchup, Issy Morgan led the way with 10 points, while Tomisin Adenupe scored nine and Suzi-Rose Deegan finished with eight. Elle Sutphin scored six points and had a team-best seven boards. The No. 8 Wolfpack were the highest ranked opponent Davidson has faced since the 2005-06 season when the 'Cats played No. 6 UNC.

MILESTONE MARKERS... Davidson women's basketball is closing in on 500 wins in the 44th season of the program's history. With four wins so far this season, the Wildcats have collected 497 wins in program history. Other milestones on the horizon are two newcomers to the 1,000-point club as fifth year Chloe Welch has 941 career points to date and senior Suzi-Rose Deegan has 868.

ROAD WARRIORS... The Wildcats have played their last nine games on the road, dating back to their first leg of the road trip on Nov. 16 at No. 19 Maryland. Davidson's last home game was on Nov. 12, when the 'Cats welcomed the Duke Blue Devils to McKillop Court. In front of a crowd of over 1,500, Chloe Welch led the way offensively with 12 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals and fellow senior Suzi-Rose Deegan just missed a double-double with 9 points and 10 boards.

SHE'S SUTPHIN... Redshirt-junior Elle Sutphin ranks in the top-100 in seven national categories currently, sitting 51st in total points (183) and 92nd in points per game (16.6). The Pilot Mountain native is also 76th in the nation with a 51.4 percent field goal percentage and 27th in made field goals with 73.
