RALEIGH — Eighth-ranked N.C. State used a 16-0 first-half run to pull away from Davidson in an 81-47 Wildcats' loss Thursday night in Reynolds Coliseum.
With the setback, the Wildcats are now 4-7 on the season, and the Wolfpack improved to 10-1.
Issy Morgan led Davidson with 10 points, while Tomisin Adenupe scored nine and Suzi-Rose Deegan finished with eight. Elle Sutphin scored six points and had a team-best seven boards.
Deegan got the Wildcats started with the game's first points on a 3-pointer and followed that with a layup and free throw to make it 6-2. Sutphin's jumper gave the Wildcats their final lead of the night at 8-6, as the Wolfpack answered that bucket with a 9-0 run.
Another Sutphin jumper got the Wildcats within 17-15 with 2:06 left in the first quarter before the Wolfpack closed the first quarter on an 8-0 run, including an Aziaha James 3-pointer just before the buzzer, to make it 25-15. Then N.C. State scored the first eight points of the second quarter to push its lead to 33-17 and led it 44-22 at the break.
The Wolfpack's lead peaked at 36 points in the final minute of the game.
N.C. State was led by James, who finished with 19 points, while Camille Hobby scored 14 and River Baldwin had 11 points and 11 boards.

The Wildcats will return home for the first time since Nov. 12 this Sunday at 1 p.m. when they host Elon from inside Belk Arena.
