Wildcats Drop A-10 Finale at Saint Louis

TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. — A late Saint Louis goal proved to be the difference Friday afternoon in a 1-0 Davidson field hockey loss to the Billikens at Principia School, just outside St. Louis.
Olivia Smith scored with 8:24 to play in regulation to give Saint Louis the victory in the teams' final Atlantic 10 Conference game.
Davidson held a 15-10 shots advantage and led 10-5 in penalty corners. Seven Wildcats fired shots-on-goal, led by Sib Naaktgeboren, who had two. Others came from Natalie Naticchia, Caroline Wack, Anna Sharp, Celie Constantine, Hannah Merritt and Evie Lake.
Making her second straight start in-goal, Amani Sodhi made five saves.

The Wildcats will close the season at 1 p.m. Sunday when they host long-time rival Appalachian State at Belk Turf Field. The series dates to 1977, the second year of Davidson's program, and the Wildcats and Mountaineers have met at least once a season since. Davidson leads the all-time tally 41-35-1.
