'Cats Continue Solid Play to Finish Runner-Up at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Davidson continued its impressive play Sunday morning as the Wildcats' fired a two-under 282 to come home tied for second at the 2022 Furman Intercollegiate.
The two-day / 54-hole event was played on the Par 71, 7,005-yard Furman Golf Course.
Davidson (852 | E), which entered the final round five off the lead in fourth place, signed for three sub-par rounds, to record its second Top-3 finish in three tournaments this fall.
Alex Heffner (-4), the 2022 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, was the low Wildcat finisher tying for sixth out of 84 competitors with a 54-hole total of 209 (68-72-69).
Junior Brian Garrett (-1 / T-13) also turned in a solid performance for Davidson capped by his second red number of the event, a one-under 70.
After opening with a five-over 76, Will Davis (+1 / T-16), last year's conference freshman of the year, responded with a pair of two-under rounds to also place inside the Top-20 for the Wildcats.
Joshua Stewart (220 / T-36) and Ethan Hall (223 / T-56) were also in the Davidson starting lineup this weekend.
Chattanooga continued where it left off yesterday, firing a tournament-low 11-under 273 to capture the team title by 14 strokes.
Will Morland of Furman, who entered ranked 72nd nationally, and James Madison's Daniel Cheng shared medalist honors at 9-under 204.

Davidson will wrap up its 2022 fall slate at the Grandover Collegiate next weekend in Greensboro. The Wildcats are the defending champions of the annual event.
