
'Cats Return Home for Weekend with Fordham

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- At the halfway point of the Atlantic 10 Conference season, the Davidson volleyball team returns home for a big series this weekend against the Fordham Rams.
The 'Cats will take on the Rams on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Both matches will have live stats coverage, with Saturday's match airing on ESPN+.
ABOUT THE RAMS... Fordham is currently 3-6 in the Atlantic 10 and 9-11 overall. Led by Whitley Moody's 4.20 kills/set, Fordham ranks third in the league with a .202 hitting percentage and fourth in kills/set (12.46). Davidson leads the all-time series against the Rams, 8-3, since the initial meeting in 2014 and swept last season's series 2-0.
THE ROOKIES... Davidson's freshmen have played a massive role in this season's success, with offensive production from Emma Slusser and Jackie Bardin as well as the defensive efforts from Kayla Davis and Jan Marie Duhaylungsod. Bardin and Slusser have each captured Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors this season, as the duo accounts for 4.82 of Davidson's 12.7 kills per set average, while the 'Cats rank third in the league across kills per set. At the net, middle blocker Davis ranks second on the team in blocks per set with .79 and 57 total blocks this season while Duhaylungsod has stepped up as a defensive specialist this year with 1.57 digs per set.
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS... Anela Davis and Bella Brady's defense anchors the 2022 Wildcats, as Davis leads the Atlantic 10 with 1.50 blocks per set and Brady leads the liberos of the league with 5.17 digs per set. Nationally, Davis' average ranks seventh highest in the country while also ranking sixth with 108 total blocks. Brady also stacks up against the nation's best, as she's 17th in the country in digs per set and 27th in total digs (372).
AROUND THE HORN... With nine games to go in the conference season, the Davidson Wildcats currently sit one game out of first place, behind Loyola Chicago. The Ramblers sit alone at the top at 9-0 in league play, as the 'Cats are chasing the A-10 newcomers with an 8-1 league ledger. Dayton and George Washington round out the top-4 with each club holding a 6-3 A-10 record while Saint Louis and VCU are both 5-4 to fill out the top half of the conference. For the 2022 A-10 tournament, set to be held in Saint Louis, the top six teams will make the championship while the #4 and #5 seeds along with seeds #3 and #6 will square off in the first round on Friday, Nov. 18.
