Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Maxi Hopfer scored a goal in each half to lift Duquesne to a 2-1 win over Davidson Saturday evening in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action on Arthur J. Rooney Field.
Despite the setback, Davidson (4-8-3, 1-4-1 A-10) freshman Denis Krioutchenkov provided a 52nd minute equalizer from the penalty spot for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Three of Krioutchenkov's team-high four shots were on goal.
Hopfer put the Dukes in front at the 21:51 mark and knocked in his second not long after the Wildcats evened the score early in the second half. Elmar Jonsson and Cameron Territo provided assists on Hopfer's eventual game-winner.
Duquesne (10-1-3, 4-0-2 A-10) finished with a slight 13-12 edge in shots, with both teams putting six on frame. Davidson held the upper hand in corners, 7-6.
Domenic Nascimben led the two keepers with five saves. Giacomo Piccardo stopped four shots for the Wildcats.

Davidson will close out its 2022 home slate Saturday, Oct. 22 when Massachusetts visits Alumni Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
