Gisolfi-McCready Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson women's soccer player Aleia Gisolfi-McCready has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
The freshman from Lexington, Mass., secured the league's first weekly honor of the season.
"Really happy for Aleia and the team," said coach Adam Denton. "It's a great way for her to start her college career, and it was a great weekend for the team. We are all looking forward to the next challenges."
Gisolfi-McCready had a college debut to remember last Thursday night, when she scored two goals in a 3-1 season-opening win over Gardner-Webb. She gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute when she rebounded a Sophia Caruso shot and finished. After Riley Patton's goal broke a 1-1 tie in the 78th minute, Gisolfi-McCready struck again, this time on a breakaway with 4:23 to play.
Gisolfi-McCready and the Wildcats return to play at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 when they host Mount St. Mary's at Alumni Stadium.
