
Three Named to the Academic All-SoCon Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Three Davidson wrestlers were named to the Academic All-Southern Conference Team, announced by the league Wednesday.
On the heels of the Wildcats earning their highest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar Team ranking since 2010, junior's Kyle Gorant and Finlay Holston, and sophomore David Loniewski added to it with their selections to the Academic All-SoCon Team.
To be eligible, scholar-athletes must have completed at least three semesters, have a cumulative grade point average above 3.3, and have competed in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions.
Gorant led the way for the 'Cats on the mats, going 5-3 at 133 pounds. A 2021 NWCA Scholar All-America Team honoree, the Coopersburg, Pa., product is studying biology and ended his season on a three-bout win streak that concluded with a time expiring fall in his final action at Presbyterian.
Holston earned his second consecutive Academic All-SoCon honors following a 4-4 season at 197 pounds. The Winthrop, Wash., native continued to improve on the mat and dominate in the classroom as a biology major.
Loniewski competed for Davidson in all eight duals at 149 pounds. The South Plainfield, N.J., product plans to pursue a degree in economics.
