NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second consecutive year, Davidson placed more than 300 scholar-athletes on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
"We are extremely proud of our scholar-athletes and this incredible achievement," said Director of Athletics Chris Clunie. "Especially during such a challenging year, they continued to raise the bar and do athletics the right way."
Davidson, which just missed matching last year's school-record total of 314, had 312 scholar-athletes recognized to finish fourth-best among the 14-member league for the second straight year.
To qualify for the Commissioner's Honor Roll a student-athlete must have a 3.0 year-long GPA and compete in an A-10 sponsored sport. Freshmen and graduate students are eligible.
Just under 70 percent of Wildcat honorees maintained a GPA of 3.5 or better, while 25 recorded a 4.0.
In all, a record 3,845 conference athletes were recognized, an average of 274 per institution.
Massachusetts had the most selections with 333, followed by George Mason with 332. Fordham was third with 319 student-athletes with Saint Joseph's (296) finishing out the top five.
The Commissioner's Honor Roll was previously awarded twice during the season, once after each semester. The change was made prior to the 2017-18 season to grant the award once per year.
