Wildcats To Host Multiple ID Clinics This Summer
5/20/2021 2:24:00 PM | Women's Soccer
The Davidson women's soccer program will host multiple Prospect ID Clinics in July and August, head coach Adam Denton announced this week.
With the recruiting dead period expiring May 31, the Wildcats will host ID clinics on Saturdays and Sundays — July 10-11 and July 31-Aug. 1 — with one-day and weekend options available.
"We're excited to have the opportunity to host these camps," said Denton. "These have been an important part of our process over the last four or five years in identifying players and also for players having the opportunity to decide whether Davidson is the right opportunity for them in their academic and athletic careers."
With COVID-19's impact extending the recruiting dead period, it limited and eliminated many opportunities over the past 15 months. But the camps are a return to the normal process that has paid off for the Wildcats in the past.
"The camps are a critical part of the recruitment process for athletes considering Davidson," said Denton. "These ID camps provide players with the opportunity to work with the Davidson staff and also get an idea of the experience of life on campus."
The clinics are designed for competitive, ambitious club players who are considering playing college soccer at the NCAA Division I, Division II or Division III levels. They follow a one-day curriculum, designed by the Davidson women's soccer staff, and will expose the players to the training methods and practices utilized by the Wildcats, who reached the Atlantic 10 Conference championship game this spring. The clinics will be held at the Davidson College soccer facilities and will cover technical and tactical aspects of the game.
Along with training at the Wildcats' top-notch facilities, players will get to know the coaching staff and have the opportunity to interact and learn more about the program.
Separate goalkeeper training is available and is directed by Davidson's goalkeeper coach and will feature specific training on the technical and functional areas of goalkeeping, such as diving, positional play, dealing with crosses, distribution, and organization. It also allows the goalkeepers to participate in full-sided games.
