NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Davidson lacrosse freshman Noelle Cegielski was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Co-Rookie of the Week after leading the 'Cats to their fifth straight conference win last weekend, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The New York native earned her 12th straight start during a 20-13 win over George Washington last Friday, grabbing two ground balls, two draw controls and causing one turnover in the win. One of the Wildcats' primary defenders, Cegielski helped Davidson hold the Colonials to just 16 shots on goal and 23 shots total. Additionally, Davidson's defense was nearly perfect on clear attempts, going 15-of-16, while causing five failed clears for GW.
Cegielski joins fellow rookie Julianne Carey, as the two newest 'Cats to garner the A-10's weekly rookie award, and is the fifth different Wildcat to be represented by the league's weekly awards this season.
Cegielski and the rest of the Wildcats are gearing up for their biggest weekend yet, as the 'Cats will travel to Richmond to conclude the regular season at No. 12 Richmond University on Friday afternoon and VCU on Sunday. For more information, visit davidsonwildcats.com.
