‘Cats Fall to George Washington on Senior Day

DAVIDSON, N.C. – George Washington scored a pair of goals in each half to get past Davidson, 4-1, in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Saturday at Alumni Stadium.
The Wildcats, who entered unbeaten in five of their last six, fall to 3-4-2 overall and 2-2-2 in league play, while GW captures the A-10's Central Division improving to 4-2-2 and 3-1-2.
Oscar Haynes Brown paced the Colonials with two goals, which came in the 26th and 57th minutes.
In addition to Brown's double, Tom Cooklin, who set up Brown and Hrolfur Sveinsson's first-half scores, added a goal of his own 6 minutes into the second half.
Davidson's lone goal came with just over 15 minutes to play when Connor Smith headed in a rebound off a Henry Howell free kick from just outside the box. The strike was the fourth of the campaign for the freshman.
Despite the setback, the Wildcats finished with a 13-11 edge in shot attempts.
This afternoon's contest was suspended on separate occasions due to severe weather in the area.
Prior to the match, Davidson honored its 2021 Senior Class – Hugh Chatham, Jamie DiLuzio, Quinn Dudek, Alan Morales and Zach Schewe.
