NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For the sixth time this season, freshman attacker Julianne Carey has been named the Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Last week, Carey matched her career high in scoring during both ends of a back-to-back weekend for the 'Cats, as she recorded five points in a win over George Mason and George Washington.
In leading the Wildcats to two-straight Atlantic 10 victories, Carey recorded four goals and one assist against George Washington on Sunday, setting a new career-high in goals scored. She also recorded two ground balls and two draw controls on the 2-0 weekend.
Davidson's 2-0 start to Atlantic 10 play is the first time the 'Cats have ever done so since joining the A-10 in 2014-15, and is the first time Davidson has begun conference play with a 2-0 slate since doing so in the Big South Conference during the spring of 2014.
Carey has now earned the league's rookie award every week of the season in which the Wildcats have played a game.
Davidson will play one game this week, looking ahead to a primetime Atlantic 10 match up on Thursday night against No. 15 Richmond from inside Richardson Stadium.
