NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Wildcat sophomore Hannah Kanjian was named the first Atlantic 10 Women's Field Performer of the Week for the 2021 outdoor season, announced by the league office Wednesday.
Kanjian showed no rust in her return to the track and the throwing circle and the runway, claiming victory in the heptathlon in program record setting fashion at the 49er Classic. The Jupiter, Fla., product earned 4805 points, 127 points more than former Wildcat great, Makayla Binter '20. She took the top-two highest point totals in six of the seven events and earned an impressive 848 points in the 100-meter hurdles.
A 2020 A-10 Indoor All-Rookie Team member, Kanjian was a Rookie of the Week selection after her first-ever meet for the 'Cats in December of 2019.
