Blue Hose Take Down Wildcats

CLINTON, S.C. -- After winning their last two matches, the Davidson men's tennis team fell on Saturday afternoon, 5-2 at the hands of Presbyterian College. The 'Cats are now 4-8 on the year, while the Blue Hose improve to 5-3.
The Wildcats fell into a deficit early, after losing the doubles point from losses on courts one and two. The teams of Maxwell Kachkarov and Ogden Timpson, and Douglas Macintosh and Alexander Loope fell 6-3 and 6-2, respectively. While Timpson earned his first doubles start of the season from court one, Kachkarov lost just his fourth doubles match of the year in the match up.
Sam Kavarana and freshman Jerry Wang shined on the singles courts, as former A-10 Player of the Week Kavarana won at No. 3, in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 7-5. For Wang, the rookie earned just his fourth start of the year, and picked up his second career singles win with 7-6, 6-4 results.
Camden Mazzoni and Macintosh fell in three, from courts three and five respectively, while Mazzoni picked up a 6-3 first set win before falling 5-7 in the clinching set.
Davidson will return to the courts tomorrow to continue non-conference action, taking on Gardner-Webb at 1 p.m. from Boiling Springs, N.C.
