Fuller Takes the Mile Run and 'Cats Post New Records at JDL College Kick-off

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman Breila Fuller took the title in the mile run and two athletes posted new school records on Day 1 of the JDL Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-off.
In Fuller's collegiate debut, she finished the mile in 5:10.35 leading a field of 19 athletes. Seniors Anna Davis and Bianca Nolde-Lopez set new school records in the 60m Hurdles and the 600-meter run, respectively. Davis's time of 9.01 beat the previous record from 2020 of 9.20 seconds. Nolde-Lopez's time of 1:38.85 overtook the previous 1:39.40 record from 2020 as well.
The 4x400 relay team of Davis, Nolde-Lopez, Marquia Humphries and Isabella Darce finished in 3:56.53, not far off the current school record from 2020.
All five Wildcats who participated in the 600-meter run crossed the finish line in the Top-15 finishers. Following Nolde-Lopez's record finish were Leah Sarkisian, Sophia Hood, Rachael Horowitz and Darce. Another notable finish was Maliyah Paynter sixth place performance in the 800-meter run.
Humphries finished in sixth place in the 400-meter dash with freshman Aleia Gisolfi-McCready rounded out the top-10. In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Kierra Marshall finished in third place with a time of 25.65.
Coming off the A10 Cross Country Championships, Frances Whitworth led the way for Davidson in the 3000-meter run recording a sixth place finish and Anna Catherine Wilson in eighth.
In the field events, sophomore pole vaulter Meghan Burkholder posted a seventh-place finish after clearing a 3.50 meters (11-5.75 ft) and Hannah Fay came in at eleventh place.
