NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Four Davidson Wildcats have earned spots on the Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer postseason awards list, the league announced Thursday.
Cecie Bassett, Mary Grace Bunch and Hannah Casey are on the A-10 All-Academic Team, while Aleia Gisolfi-McCready is a member of the All-Rookie Team, giving the Wildcats the most postseason honorees they've had in one year since joining the league in 2014.
"We're happy for each of the players who earned postseason awards," said Davidson coach Adam Denton. "Even through a challenging season with much adversity, it's good for our players to be recognized. We're looking forward to continuing to work with the players through the spring as we build toward next fall."
Gisolfi-McCready, a freshman, led the Wildcats this fall with three goals and seven points. She scored two goals in her college debut in a 3-1 win over Gardner-Webb on Aug. 19, which led to her being named A-10 Rookie of the Week. She also scored against VCU on Oct. 21 and had an assist at Presbyterian Sept. 5.
Bunch, a senior computer science major, started 12 games and played more than 1,100 minutes in goal prior to a season-ending injury. She made 36 saves and posted a .766 saves percentage and 0.88 goals against average. Bunch was A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 13.
A junior psychology major, Casey started 16 games and totaled two goals and one assist. She scored against UNC-Asheville on Sept. 12 and at George Washington in the Oct. 24 season finale, and assisted on a goal against St. Bonaventure on Oct. 10.
A junior history major, Bassett started 15 games and emerged this year as a key player on the Wildcats' defense, playing nearly 1,300 minutes. She also had an assist against VCU on Oct. 21.
