Wildcats' Streak Ends in Loss to Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Davidson Wildcats saw their four-game conference win streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to the reigning A-10 champions from Dayton.
The 'Cats had their strongest set of the day in the first, leading 13-10 midway through the frame, before dropping the set 25-18. The Flyers responded after the first, fending off the Wildcats 25-10 and 25-18 in the second and third to secure the league victory.
In the first, the Wildcats hung tight with the Flyers, exchanging points and taking an early 5-4 lead thanks to solid serving from Sophia Hritz. Later, the 'Cats relied on offensive production from Isabel Decker and Sola Omonije, who provided back-to-back kills and allowed Davidson to take an 11-9 lead. Davidson would continue to build on that momentum, thanks to Omonije and Xuan Nguyen connecting for two straight kills to hand the Wildcats their largest lead of the match at a 13-10 advantage. Davidson's surge would end there, however, as the Flyers swung .375 in the first (15 kills, 32 attempts) to take the 25-18 victory.
The Flyers, who remain unbeaten at 6-0 in conference play, hit a match-best .393 in the second and finished the outing with a combined .300 attacking percentage. The Wildcats swung .103 as a team, but Omonije finished the day with an impressive team-high .455 attacking percentage off seven kills and 11 attempts.
