Dylan Elber is joining the Davidson baseball staff as director of player development, head coach Rucker Taylor announced Wednesday.
Elber comes to the Wildcats after working the previous two years as video manager-player development in the New York Yankees organization.
"We feel fortunate to have Dylan joining us and believe he will bring a lot of value to our program right away," said Taylor. "His experiences in professional baseball will provide our players and coaches with new insights, and we think he'll be able to help all of us grow. Dylan is a hard worker, and we are excited to welcome him and his fiancée, Carly, to Davidson."
A 2013 Rutgers University graduate, Elber will oversee various technological and computer programs, including Synergy video, Rapsodo for pitchers and hitters and Blast for hitters. He'll handle opponent and self-scouting and also assist in summer placement for players and travel logistics for the team.
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to join Coach Taylor and his staff at Davidson," said Elber. "I hope that I can take my experience working in pro ball and impact the program."
Elber began working in baseball during the 2013-14 school year, when he served as director of baseball operations at Division III Keystone College in Pennsylvania, where he helped the Giants extend their streak of conference championships.
He served as assistant general manager of the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) for nearly two years before entering pro ball as a minor league intern with the Boston Red Sox, where he worked primarily with the Class-A Advanced Salem Red Sox.
He spent 2016 and 2017 as a minor league video assistant with the Pittsburgh Pirates, working at the organization's minor league facility in Florida during spring training and with affiliates during the season.
With the Yankees, he helped in the breakdown of amateur and international games during the offseason, before spending seasons with Double-A Trenton and A-Advanced Tampa. He charted all games with BATS software, organized team travel and player travel between affiliates and handled other administrative and video duties.
