
Spring Senior Scholar-Athlete Spotlight: Katie Macturk

Thirty-three seniors were on Davidson Wildcat rosters as this spring began, and though their 2020 seasons were abbreviated, their contributions to their respective teams, the overall athletics program and college itself make them worthy of recognition. Each Tuesday and Thursday, we will feature members of the class of 2020 as part of the Senior Spring Scholar-Athlete Spotlight.
Sport you competed in: Women's Track & Field
What is your major/minor?: Majoring in Religious Studies with a minor in Computer Sciences
What was your favorite class and why?: Issues in Religion and Politics because it was really fun. I learned about an intersection between two important topics, and it was with a great group of people.
Where are you completing your studies this semester?: Wilmington, Del.
Though it was cut short, what will you remember most about your senior season?: The fun memories made with my teammates - one of our last runs was an adventure run to different fun places on campus.
What was your favorite trip you took as a team and why?: My favorite team trip was to Boston my junior year because me and the girls I was with got to spend time together, eat great meals together, hear coach talk about her life, run in the city by the river, and I ran my best time in the mile.
Most memorable college moment outside of competition?: Going on the CATS Spring Break Trip every year - it's service, fun times, worship, getting to know people, and relaxing all rolled into one.
What lessons from sports has helped you deal with the unusual situation of the spring semester?: That oftentimes things do not go the way you want, but you keep going because you love what you do and you love the people you do it with.
What are you most proud of from your time as a Wildcat?: That I got to be a D-I athlete and get an amazing education, all while having fun with my best friends.
Who do you want to thank for their support?: My coach, my parents, and my teammates.
What's next for you?: Working at Lake Forest Church Davidson as a Missions and College Intern.
