DAVIDSON, N.C. – Senior running back Wesley Dugger was named to the HERO Sports 2020 Preseason All-American team, announced by the site Thursday.
Dugger, already the Wildcats all-time leading rusher entering his final campaign, was tabbed a third team selection by the writers and contributors at HERO Sports.
In his junior season, the Henrico, Va., product broke Davidson's single-season record for touchdowns in a season (22), and tied the Pioneer Football League mark for touchdowns in a game (5). He led the FCS in scoring (12.0 PPG) and is among the top five active rushers with over 3,400 career yards.
Dugger rushed for 1,068 yards on 202 carries, averaging 5.3 yards per carry in 2019. He was selected to the All-PFL first team for the third time in as many tries.
In 2018, Dugger was named to the HERO Sports Offensive All-Sophomore team and in his freshman campaign received votes for the Jerry Rice Award, given to the nation's top rookie in the FCS.
Dugger and the Wildcats are tentatively slated to begin the 2020 campaign on the road at Campbell, Saturday, Sept. 5 in a non-conference clash with the Fighting Camels.
