Name: Alex Mardiney
Sport: Baseball
What was your favorite class and why? American art history, really enjoyed having Professor Shaw Smith. One of the most genuine people I've met.
Where did you complete your studies this semester? At home, in Lutherville, Md.
Though it was cut short, what will you remember most about your senior season? Bus rides with my teammates and rehabbing my back injury for four months
If you had to choose, what was the defining moment of your athletic career? Weekend at St. Joe's my sophomore year when I hit by first collegiate home run
What was your favorite trip you took as a team and why? VCU my junior year. I loved playing at their stadium and we had some hilarious moments on the bus/at the hotel.
What makes a Davidson scholar-athlete different? The workload that is required differentiates the Davidson student-athlete from almost any other school. To get through the academic component, on top of our athletic commitment, is not easy. We are treated like every other student so it requires a high level of discipline to excel.
You can invite any three people to dinner. Who is joining you? Kieran Casey, Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos
Most memorable college moment outside of competition? The road trips with my teammates were always hilarious and made for great memories
Did you have a pre-game superstition? I would play Marvin's Room by Drake, Sad! by XXXtentacion and Changes by XXXtentacion on the speaker in the locker room every time we played a doubleheader or an early morning game.
What are you most proud of from your time as a Wildcat? The relationships I formed with my teammates and countless others around Davidson
What lessons from sports have helped you deal with the unusual situation of the spring semester? Adapting to the situation at hand and only worrying about what you can control
Who do you want to thank for their support? My parents, teammates, coaches, and friends
What's next for you? I am working in Consulting for SC&H specializing in Oracle-Hyperion Cloud tech
