10 Davidson Teams Earn NCAA APR Public Recognition Award

Ten Davidson programs have earned Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Awards, the NCAA announced Tuesday, and it's the most of any Atlantic 10 Conference institution.
The APR measures academic achievement for all Division I programs, and the awards are based on APRs from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years. The awards recognize those programs that rank in the top 10 percent for the past four-year period, and this marks the second time in the last three years that Davidson has led the A-10 after finishing second last year.
"We are extremely proud, but not surprised, of our amazing scholar-athletes," said Director of Athletics Chris Clunie. "They consistently strive for the highest levels of excellence in the classroom and embrace doing athletics the right way. As always, It's a Great Day to be a Wildcat."
Six Wildcat men's teams were recognized, including baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, swimming and diving and tennis. The women's cross country, field hockey, swimming and diving and tennis teams were honored.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester or quarter by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport.
Full APR scores for all teams, including access to postseason play and penalties for low-performing teams, will be released on May 19.
