Anna West Wins A-10 Lax Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — After helping lead Davidson to a win at Old Dominion last week, freshman Anna West claimed her first career weekly award by being named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for women's lacrosse for games played from March 2-8.
West had a breakout game in just her fifth collegiate contest, scoring a season-high five goals on a season-best seven shots during a 22-9 win last Wednesday. She tallied the game-winner, went 1-for-1 on free-postion shots, and added a groundball, a draw control and a caused turnover.
The Hillsborough, N.C., native scored all five goals in the first half, including three straight that turned a 7-3 advantage into a 10-3 lead which would eventually be 13-3 at halftime. Her other two goals gave the Wildcats leads of 5-1 and 7-1 at the time.
The attacker doubled her season goal output, giving her a team-best 10 on the season and tied for third in points with 10 overall.
Davidson (2-3) plays its home opener Monday night against Lehigh at 6:30 p.m.
