Fischer Named to SoCon All-Freshman Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wrestling rookie Cian Fischer was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team, announced by the league Thursday.
Fischer had a productive first year on the mat for Davidson, racking up a 9-8 record, 3-2 in SoCon bouts. The Fremont, Wis., native pinned a team-high six opponents including three at the Southeast Open, where he grappled his way to the Freshman/Sophomore Championship third-place bout. He earned the fourth seed in the 125-pound class at the upcoming SoCon Championship.
Fischer joins sophomore teammates Kyle Gorant and Mitchell Trigg as former All-Freshman Team representatives.
Davidson heads to the SoCon Championship Sunday, Mar. 8 from the Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, N.C. The championship first round is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
