Thirty-three seniors were on Davidson Wildcat rosters as this spring began, and though their 2020 seasons were abbreviated, their contributions to their respective teams, the overall athletics program and college itself make them worthy of recognition. Each Tuesday and Thursday, we will feature members of the class of 2020 as part of the Senior Spring Scholar-Athlete Spotlight.
What was your favorite class and why:My favorite class was Politics of the Middle East with Dr. Toska. Dr. Toska is one of the most engaging lecturers at Davidson and is always willing to listen and challenge you on an idea or issue. In Pol of the Middle East we covered some of the most difficult conflict resolution materials in a way that made the issues clear and the solutions attainable.
Where are you completing your studies this semester:At home in Georgia.
Though it was cut short, what will you remember most about your senior season:I will most remember the time I spent with my teammates, just enjoying life at Davidson. Davis with Coach Molly What was the defining moment of your athletic career:Getting third in pole vault at A-10's in 2019.
What was your favorite trip you took as a team and why:Indoor conference 2018 will always be special to me because it was one of the best bonding experiences of my life with the team. A 15-hour bus trip will do that to you.
You can invite any three people to dinner, who is joining you:Mondo Duplantis, Bernie Sanders and Coach Molly Vahrenkamp.
Most memorable college moment outside of competition: There are too many, but maybe spending time at Lake Campus with my friends every Friday of first semester of my sophomore year.
What lessons from sports has helped you deal with the unusual situation of the spring semester:Just go out and compete. It doesn't matter what the expectation is or what is going on around you. Go out and give it hell.
What are you most proud of from your time as a Wildcat: Probably the people I have met and who influenced me and who I hope to have influenced for years to come.
Who do you want to thank for their support:My parents have always been in my corner no matter what. I also want to thank the single best coach on Davidson's campus, Coach Molly. She has been there for us no matter what for the last four years-. No matter how we have been competing, no matter what else is going on in our lives, no matter how far we fall, she has always picked us back up and put us back on the right path. Her support is what has gotten so many of us over the finish line.
