NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second time in three weeks, Davidson freshman Bryce Anthony was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday.
Anthony out-leaned Louisburg College's Aveon Reid to claim the victory in the 60-meter hurdles at the Mondo College Invitational, stopping the clock in 8.25 seconds. He also placed second in the pole vault, clearing 4.25-meters (13'11.25) on his third and final attempt at the height.
The Wildcat newcomer was last named the league's Rookie of the Week on Jan. 21 for his school record-setting and winning performance in the 60m hurdles at the JDL College January Kick-Off. It is the third time this season Davidson has earned the league's top freshman as fellow hurdler Jordan Benson garnered the distinction back on Dec. 10.
Davidson returns to the track Friday, Feb. 7 on the opening day of the Camel City Invite hosted by JDL Fast Track.
